Support statewide resources for Kansans

Your generous investment in the State Library of Kansas, is an investment in the people of Kansas.

At this time, you have three ways to support Kansans through State Library services (click the links to learn more):

  • Talking Books Division: Kansas Talking Books Division provides personalized library support and materials in a specialized format to eligible Kansas residents to ensure that all may read. This is a service that provides:
    • Books and magazines in audio and braille formats mailed directly to the patron, with return postage included.
    • Special equipment to access books and magazine format, mailed directly to the patron.
    • Collection of material across a variety of genres, fiction and non-fiction, for Kansans of all ages.
    • Reader advisory service.
    • Digital access to books and magazines from Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) via BARD website or BARD mobile app and more.
  • Statewide Resources: The Library offers a wide range of services, including digital books, databases, learning resources, government information, research assistance, a legislative hotline and so much more. 
  • General library support: The Library provides support for public, school, academic and special libraries and librarians; including state aid funding, continuing education resources, technology support and library development more broadly.

The mission of the State Library of Kansas is to improve the lives of Kansans by supporting reading readiness, academic achievement, business development, employment opportunities, and lifelong learning.

Visit Us

You are invited to visit the State Library of Kansas as researcher, reader, tourist and person in search of a quiet, welcoming place. Statehouse tours include the library and are regularly offered by the Kansas Historical Society

Parking is free in the garage beneath the Statehouse. Note that parking spaces may be limited with the Kansas Legislature is in session, January through early May.
